Steve Mccurry Presentation

Steve McCurry is an American Photojournalist whose is famed for his screeningage of international conflicts
His mildew focuses on the human consequences of war, not only showing what war impresses on the landscape, but rather, on the human face.
He is driven by an innate curiosity and sense of wonder about the humanity and everyone in it, and has an uncanny ability to cross boundaries of language and agriculture to capture stories of human experience.
I want to discuss work he did during the beginning of his career when he disguised himself in native garb and crossed the Pakistan border into rebel-controlled Afghanistaniistan just earlier the Russian invasion in 1979.

The most famous impressiongraph of all times is mayhap this one: Afghan Girl (1984)
The girls visit is Sharbat Gula
She was living as a refugee in Pakistan during the Soviet military control of Afghanistan when she was photographed at 12 years-old
This photo was featured on the cover of June 1985s issue of National Geographic Magazine and brought her international fame
I find this particular photograph very captivating with his use of brilliant colours in sunglasses of orange, red and green that resonate with each other
The green of her eye are reinforced by the green in the mise en scene and beneath her scarf, and then contrasted by the intense shade of orange.
This make her haunting emerald eyes stand out.
She is expressionless in this photo but all her emotions are deeply expressed through her eyes, the strongest element in this portrait
Her eyes have looks of hopelessness, nervousness, fear, paranoia, irritation.
The stare does not look entirely friendly, rather, it was cold and insecure
Close proximity the portrait was taken also shows a sense of photo of the subject
