From precocious 10- class-old girls to female kick-boxers, this years RiverRun International burgeon forth Festival focuses on the unique(p) experiences of women. RiverRun, an annual even held in Brevards Falls mansion and surrounding venues, is now in its fourth year.

The documentary Inventing a Girl, directed and produced by Fernanda Rossi, is just one of RiverRuns featured works by women filmmakers. The film follows two years in the life of a home- give lessonsed girl named Lily Borenstein-Burd. Several years ago, Rossi, having recently arrived in the U.S., was visiting the relatives of a friend and was shocked to remark that their daughter did not attend a traditional school.
In Argentina, where I come from, kids dont go to school because they dont shoes…or they live on a dirt road in the middle of the democracy; theyre too poor, she said.



But we were in this residential discipline in New Jersey with beautiful houses. When Lily said she didnt go to school, I looked at her shoesâ€"that was my first chemical reaction…it was such a foreign concept to me.
Rossi had originally think to show people in other countries a track of American cultureâ€"but while making the film, she found that Americans themselves know little about home-schooling.
