Greta Awakening

The Great Awakening: Pioneer to religious freedom

The Great wake has several parts to it. I will be discussing the sustain Great Awakening in colonial America. Times were tough, warfare was everywhere. The colonies were growing rapidly. The need for slavery was growing at unsafe speed. The church was slowly seeping from every day life story. sight were in need of some guidance. Youngsters were frequently going on night walks and frequenting the taverns. They were use to getting guidance from parents and local leaders, solely the times had changed and the guidance was no there as it erst was. Along with the lack of church in everyday life there was a affect for individuality. Then great speakers and unearthly leaders came in and swept the nation. George Whitefield, Gilbert Tennent, and James Davenport lead sermons across the New England area, which led to fresh movements in the church. These new movements were not welcome by everyone, in-fact they led to new groups. The out of date lights and the NEW lights as they were called are the beginning to the new age. Because of the push for individuality and the church the Great Awakening put in motion the religious freedoms we have today.
